Bliss. It’s the feeling of doing something that you’re passionate about. When you're passionate about something, you're more likely to be inspired to do it and success and more opportunities are a natural outcome.
However, monetizing your passion can be challenging. Sometimes, our passions are lofty and it's hard to think about how to make money from them. But it's not impossible. With some grit and hustle, you can find ways to turn your passion into a profitable business and make bank doing what you love!
The first step to monetizing your passions is to identify them. What are you good at? What do you enjoy doing? What are you passionate about? What problems do you want to solve?
What makes you feel alive?
What are you willing to work hard for?
I have been coaching clients lately that are going through a rock and a hard place on the career front. Some want to leave their job because they are unhappy, others are looking for a job. Others are just… stuck. The number one thing I ask them is,
“what are you passionate about”?
We spend time working on personal values. Asking yourself what matters, is the best start, and ultimately will provide a better, more fulfilled, career path. Examples of questions that get us closer to identifying our values:
What are the things that are most important to me in life?
What are my core beliefs and principles?
What kind of person do I want to be?
What kind of impact do I want to have on the world?
What are the things that make me feel fulfilled and satisfied?
What are the things that I am willing to sacrifice for?
What are the things that I am not willing to compromise on?
Getting closer to what I like, or do want, helps me with what I don’t want. Think about that for a minute. When we are clear with what we don’t want, we make better choices; we set our mind and our sights on what we do want, in a clearer way … and bam: manifestation. Things start lining up the way you want - recruiters call, the right opportunities open up, the money starts coming in, the success builds.
I. kid. you. not.
Once you've identified your passions, hopefully centered around your core values - or at least symbiotic - take some time to think about how you can turn them into a business or into your next job.
What skills do you need to develop?
What resources do you need?
What are the challenges you'll face?
It will be challenging. We often just lean on what we know from before, rather than digging deep and attaching our future goals with what really matters to us.
Think about that for a minute.
Take a look at your own career right now? Are you doing what you really, and I mean, REALLY, love?
Are you able to live outside-the-box of the status quo?
