A while ago I stayed up in Ventura, California, near the beach, with my family for a little vaca..., and we came across these beautiful zen balancing rock sculptures that were literally balancing on top of each other in the most precarious manner. It reminded me how in tune we can be on a daily basis, and how easily the tide can wash away anything you create... and that's OK.
Watch my video and get my 3 things about making art that will make your day!
There is a dichotomy we live in, between the hustle and the flow, and in order for artists to survive the cut throat business, there are 3 simple things we can follow on a daily basis.
1. Learn the #1 reason why you should create art.
2. Understand the "success" metrics when creating art.
3. Find out how why "enjoying the journey" is so crucial.
Whether you are a musician, performer, songwriter, dancer, actor, writer or any other artist, this video is for you.
If I had spent more time in my life thinking about what I was about to do, I probably wouldn't have done half the things I did, especially the unimportant, mindless tasks and projects that took up my invaluable creative time. Most of us creative types would probably say a lot of the time, "I never have time to be creative." Yet those who really love what they do always find the time, in and around working by day, feeding a family, feeding ourselves and just generally living like the rest of the world.
Somewhere along the way we realize that all that mindless stuff - the living part - is just as important as the creative. I believe the secret is in balancing the normal day- to-day living with finding time to be creative, along with staying enthusiastic and motivated to keep doing.
I am a do-er. An impulsive one at that. I jump right in and make it happen. I can multi-task and often can switch from doing something logical (left brain) to creative (right brain) simultaneously. I like to spin the plates all at once but I have to admit, now that I'm also a busy mother of twins, I can get really tired. SO, how to beat it?
